There are many breeds of horses throughout the world. Each country has one or more special breeds of horse with characteristics considered to be the best for what might be required of the animal in its home country. Australia's special breed is the Australian Stock Horse, bred for its ability to work stock on the vast stations of this land, and to share the recreational activities of its owner as well.
This is the story of how the breed evolved; of the formation of a Society dedicated to its preservation and improvement; of the foundation sires of the breed; of just some of the men and women who have been involved with the breed and the Society, and of some of the clever horses who have performed or who still perform in a wide variety of disciplines.
