TUXEDO BOOKSHOP - Australia’s oldest mail order equestrian bookshop, established in 1958.

TUXEDO BOOKSHOP was established in Adelaide by Joe Coulter. Joe felt the need for a specialist mail order equestrian bookshop and so TUXEDO BOOKSHOP was born. Joe was a racing journalist who wrote under the pen name of ‘Tuxedo’, hence the name of the business.
In 1983 TUXEDO BOOKSHOP was taken over by Jill Rymill, who continued to operate the business from Adelaide until the early 1990’s.
A further change of ownership occurred when Phillip and Moira Robinson of Frankston Victoria acquired TUXEDO BOOKSHOP. They operated the business for a number of years until their retirement in 2000.
Tuxedo was then purchased by the Kerrigan family, who were already operating a wholesale horse and rural book company – Equine Educational. The Kerrigan’s operated TUXEDO BOOKSHOP & EQUINE EDUCATIONAL until their retirement in November 2007.
TUXEDO BOOKSHOP & EQUINE EDUCATIONAL are now owned by Andrew & Nicole Clarke. Both Andrew & Nicole have been involved in the horse industry for many years. Their knowledge is derived from experience in:
- Owning & operating two rural veterinary practices near the Central Coast
- Competing in numerous equestrian disciplines
- Teaching horse industry skills at TAFE
- Part ownership of a saddlery
- Operating a small horse & cattle property at the base of the Watagan Mountains
Andrew & Nicole’s fresh approach & broad knowledge will be reflected by the re-vamping of the business, without compromising the grass root values that 50 years of business has been founded upon.
